Hi Annette

As Julia says please don't suffer in silence. There is always something (well almost always RollEyes ) that will help you. Did you get an opportunity to speak with the nurse?

It can take 3 months sometimes a little longer for methotrexate to kick in and a good few months for the full effects to be felt. It might be possible for you to have a depo-medrone/kenalog steroid injection in the meantime to help with the problems you are experiencing. Alternatively a course of oral steroids will have a similar effect. Are you able to get in touch with the nurse? Some GPs will offer steroid injections (mine doesn't) so worth asking as it may help settle things over the next few weeks. Likewise your GP should be able to organise more appropriate pain relief. Always important to keep the painkillers well topped up for maximum effect.

Hope things improve soon

My son, Ian, completed the BUPA Great North Run on 15th September running for the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS). You can read his story at http://www.justgiving.com/ianlukewilson

Hi Annette,

Hope you're feeling better?

I totally get what you mean about running round school. I am a Pastoral Manager in a secondary school and it's tough. I have to do a duty each day which means moving at a pace to deal with behaviour etc. I have now been taken off the mobile duties as from sept.

I agree with the shoulder pain too, it's got to be the worst pain out of all of them, I can't get any kind of relief unless I stop breathing!!!! lol I prop myself up with pillows round shoulders and neck, with a hot water bottle or 2 strategically placed.

There seems to be a large number of school staff on here. I wonder if there is something in that?

Keep posting, stay well and enjoy your summer hols

Trace xx
